Meet Emma Rose!

This weekend we were blessed to have Eric's family in town for Melissa's graduation (and to steal away his freshman sister Marnie) and we very much enjoyed their visit! Our enjoyment did not stop us from being exhausted, however, and after they departed we enjoyed a four hour nap. This left our darling only-dog, Indy, to his own devices, as he was NOT exhausted. So, as we were going to bed, we decided to take Indy for his nightly wear-the-dog-out-so-we-can-go-to-bed walk.

Our routine is to walk in a several block square, just enough to make both Indy and Eric whine by the time we're back home. But on this occasion, as we were walking past the last neighbor's house something small, furry and mewing moved toward the nagging wife and the whining husband and dog. It was...

Now we saw the cat and immediately thought of Melissa, who was been wanting a pet and whose husband, Chris, doesn't like dogs. In fact, the more we looked at Emma Rose, the more we thought she'd be the perfect cat for Melissa and Chris. So, we took her into Emerald and Eric's Bed and Breakfast for Stray Animals, gave her a bowl of water and half a can of The World Famous Bean's Tuna, and waited for this afternoon when we could call Melissa and say "please come get your cat!"

However, as Valentina in Marina Lewycka's A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian would say, Melissa's "no-good meanie husband" said "no."

So, for the moment, we are stuck with a kitten, waiting for someone to convince Chris that Emma really does belong at his house. Someone???? Anyone????

Awww... look at her ears! She would be a perfect little sister for Indy.

She and Indy actually play together very well. Hopefully, we can convince Chris that Indy needs a cousin and Jan and Paul need a grandcat in addition to their granddog.

Congratulations Chris and Melissa! I think your new addition is adorable. Emma Rose is such a neat name for her also. Enjoy her she won't be a kitten for long.
