Little Country Wedding

On June 10, I shot my second wedding ever. The wedding was in a small Texas town called McCaulley, and was definately an interesting little wedding. My job was to follow the bride--since I'm convieniently a girl and therefore allowed more places than Mike would be--and Holly kept an eye on me, suggesting poses and angles for the shots. It was a lot of difficult as the bride moved quite a bit and didn't start getting ready until 10 minutes before the wedding. She managed to get dressed in record time and the wedding went off pretty much without a hitch...well, they did get hitched...okay, I'm going to stop being corny now. Here are the pictures:

The bride helping decorate and setting up the unity candles

the bride and groom visiting with the groom's grandmother

the mother of the groom with the bride's granddaughter, Torrie

Torrie's twin brother TJ

I love this shot! TJ's father dressed him for the wedding without his socks and this is TJ's mom correcting her husband's handiwork. You can see what TJ thinks about all this!

The bride getting a final check from her daughter and son

One last little bit of make-up...

...and she's ready for some quick bridal portraits before she starts down the aisle.

The bride with her uncle who will give her away

I think this is my favorite kissy shot yet...mostly because they aren't actually kissing!

And ending on a wet, slobbery kiss from the grandkid.

Overall, this wedding was great experience in posing, bad lighting and dealing with the family of the couple getting married. I think the bridal portraits turned out really great with the window light--in fact, Mike put the one I have up here in the Belle's portfolio! Talk about excited! The bad lighting was two awful rows of florescent lights hanging in the sanctuary...not to mention the brown carpet and yellow brick that just reflected the bad light. Because it's my blog and I can do whatever I want since I'm not selling anything, I simplified this problem by posting mostly in black and white. And as for dealing with family, well, let's just say that for my own wedding--which, thankfully, Mike and Holly will be shooting!--there will be a very strict schedule of exactly what's going to happen when, down to the order the pictures are taken in. And EVERYONE involved will have it ahead of time to get used to the order of business!

nice job emerald, i can tell that your eye is getting better. weddings are fun when you don't have to wait on the bride all day! but it sounds like yours was filled with lots of action. i love the pictures you took of the family and kids, they captured lots of memoriable emotion.

Nice photographs, I am sure the couple and family will enjoy them. I agree with Laci about your "photographic eye" being better, although I am not sure if that word can really describe it. Maybe focused is the right word, you seem to just simplify the photo as much as possible and focus on the subject. Good work.
